Coral Gables, FL (Law Firm Newswire) April 08, 2022 – Perez Mayoral, PA announced today that it is working to help tenants in Miami-Dade County remain in their properties. With inflation at a 40-year high and rental rates skyrocketing due to an influx of new residents to the area during the Covid-19 pandemic, renters are being squeezed by landlords looking to cash in by raising their rent.
In response, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners recently enacted an ordinance designed to protect renters. The new law, which became effective March 25, 2022, requires landlords to give residential tenants at least a 60-day written notice when:
- Increasing rent by more than 5 percent.
- Terminating a month-to-month residential rental agreement.
While the notice requirement gives tenants breathing room, avoiding eviction is not guaranteed. Our firm is committed to helping clients stay in their properties longer by enforcing the new law.
If you are facing a sudden, significant rental increase or your landlord is terminating your monthly rental agreement, we can help.
